During a press conference held today at the hotel where the Brazilian U23 squad for the Olympics is hosted, Alexandre Pato avoided answers about Corinthians’ interest in his acquisition already aiming the Club World Championship in December this year.
Pato was quoted by saying “About Corinthians, I can only congratulate them for their Copa Libertadores title. I was at their stadium in the Libertadores final. But my contract with Milan runs until 2014, so I can’t predict what’s going to happen next”.
When asked about Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibramovich transfers to PSG, Pato answered that his only focus at the moment is Brazil’s NT, and that he wants his friends “to be happy”.
Pato’s career has been marred by constant injury, and some speculate that the majority of those problems is due to Milan’s medical department inability of handling his fitness. At Corinthians, he’d find one of the best physiotherapy groups in the country that is already regarded as one of the best worldwide. Everyone recognizes his quality, and his price tag might be too much for Corinthians at the moment, but if a major injury comes again I’d expect Milan to be desperate to send Pato’s fitness problems to another team.
