2012 Brazilian League Team of the Year: Fluminense and Atlético Mineiro domination

Fluminense’s Fred is the best player of the year

Guys, unfortunately I don’t live off this blog. If you ever read my bio on this site, you’re aware I’m currently an Economics student, so I don’t have much spare time to dedicate here. Also, as I’m writing on WordPress, I don’t have AdSense or any other form of profiting off traffic, so my absences are (unfortunately) often. Hopefully I’ll manage one day to squeeze some time from my schedule to write a piece or two per day.

Still, relevant news? CBF’s Team of the Year was announced, and after the jump you’ll find the names.

2012 Brazilian League – Round 20 Preview

Fluminense x Corinthians – title clash (?)

We wrapped up the 1st part of the current Brazilian League tournament in Round 19, where Atlético Mineiro closed it as champions even though they have yet to play one game against Flamengo which was delayed. Now we start the 2nd part of the competition, which is the hardest as teams start to pick up many injuries, suspensions and the schedule doesn’t have much room for teams to take a significant rest. Heck, even Seleção call-ups prejudice the teams down the road! What to expect from games? Right after the jump.

Brazilian League Round 15 – Preview

Flu x São Paulo – sadly, it isn’t at the Maracanã

In Brazilian League, time runs fast. Really, really fast. We started the season back in May and after only 3 months, we’re already close to finish the 1st part of the tournament. And people still wonder why players can’t give their full effort on the pitch here… Anyways, Round 15 is up, and there’ll be a few interesting games in Santos vs. Cruzeiro and Fluminense vs. São Paulo. After the jump, my opinion over the games.

Brazilian League – Round 12 Prewiew

Atlético Mineiro makes good start in Brazilian League, but schedule might be a problem

United as one

When the season began, there were three favorites for the Brazilian League title: Corinthians, Vasco and Fluminense. They were 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the league table last season respectively, and they were also expected to challenge for the title again this year. But at the moment, while Vasco and Fluminense are pretty much on the title run and looking like good contenders and Corinthians lost much of their step after focusing on Copa Libertadores, there is a party crasher in the middle of them, one that stands at 1st place and doesn’t seem to be willing to move from there: Atlético Mineiro.

Seedorf close to start his first game with Botafogo

Seedorf training for Botafogo

While long time idols and supporters of Fogão already say Clarence Seedorf is entering Botafogo’s hall of fame, many expect him to show why he’s been regarded as one of the best players of the last decade. And we might as well see it today, as Seedorf will play his first match for the Rio de Janeiro Alvinegro side at 18:30 (GMT -3) in their home stadium, Engenhão.

2012 Brazilian League Serie A – Round 9 Preview

Joy and sadness; that’s football

After the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Cup finals, we will finally have all focus on the Brazilian League. Of course that will abruptly change again when the Olympics start, but let’s focus on nice things, shall we?

CBF is a master on planning calendaries, and set Botafogo x Fluminense a week after Flu faced Flamengo. Simply… awesome! Continue reading
