I didn’t dedicate my time to elaborate on Brazil’s performances at the Olympics a few weeks ago because, sincerely, they were facing the easiest competition they’ve ever met in the history of the competition. Considering that both Uruguay and Spain went home earlier than expected, Brazil would have only themselves to fight against. And yet they failed.

Mano Menezes call-up for Brazil’s friendly against Sweden in August 15th
As Brazil’s U23 seems to have a clear path for their first Olympics gold medal after their closest rivals, Spain, fell to Honduras 1-0 in a game full of controversy, national team coach Mano Menezes is already thinking ahead of London. Today, CBF announced the 24 players chosen to defend the Amarelinha against Sweden in Rasunda Stadium, Stockholm. Mano decided to maintain the current Brazil selection that is playing in London, calling more 6 players.

Brazil U23: Shirt numbers released
Today, FIFA released the name of every player that will participate in the Olympic Games this month, along with their shirt numbers. One of the highlights in the Brazilian squad is Oscar being handled the #10 shirt, while Ganso, who is disputing the AMC spot with him, earned #16.

Oscar as starter in 1st Brazil U23 training session
After pretty much cementing himself as the 1st choice attacking midfielder for Mano’s squad during the last run of friendlies at Europe and USA and being linked to Tottenham and Chelsea, with the most likely landing place the latter, Oscar was also featured among the starters in the 1st Brazil U23 squad for the Olympics in London. Hulk asks for respect from former Brazilian star
After former Brazilian football hero and current congressman Romário went on Twitter to publicly criticize the Olympics U23 selection ), and directing personal critics to the selected players over 23 years old saying “they don’t deserve it”, as “they’re not quality material”, Hulk backfired telling Romário that “he deserves respect”.
